SOTD #21

Today’s song is Year Of The Cat by Al Stewart

On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre
Contemplating a crime

She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running
Like a watercolour in the rain
Don’t bother asking for explanations
She’ll just tell you that she came
In the year of the cat

This is my absolute favourite song of all-time. I first heard it years ago, on the Ambrose Harcourt show on Southern Sound radio. Lying in bed one night listening to the radio playing softly, suddenly there was this piano riff and the amazing lyric. Everything about this song is just perfect and I can listen to it day in, day out and never tire of it.
