Listening to Billy Bragg in the ’80’s, you’d be forgiven for thinking that all he was, was a political singer with a duff-sounding voice and dodgy guitar. But then you hear a song like this and realise that, while the voice will never be that of an angel, it can be sweet and tender and really quite tuneful. A lost-love sort of song, but definitely the best thing that I’ve ever heard him do.
