Today’s song is Hello, Mr Zebra by Tori Amos
Hello Mr. Zebra
Can I have your sweater
Cause it’s cold cold cold
In my hole hole hole
Ratatouille Strychnine
Sometimes she’s a friend of mine
With a gigantic whirlpool
That will blow your mind
Hello Mr. Zebra
Ran into some confusion with a Mrs. Crocodile
Furry mussels marching on
She thinks she’s Kaiser Wilhelm
Or a civilized syllabub
To blow your mind
Figure it out
She’s a goodtime fella
She got a little fund to fight for Moneypenny’s rights
Figure it out
She’s a goodtime fella
Too bad the burial was premature she said
and smiled
I was never really into Tori Amos, but bought her 1996 album Boys For Pele after seeing her do a couple of tracks with the Black Dyke Mills Band on Later… It’s an odd album and not one that I listen to much now, but I will pull it out every now and then just for this track. It’s a little 67 second track that has a quirky lyric that could mean almost anything, and displays (for me) all that is good about Tori Amos.
