Self-Publishing
As a blogger, the next step logical step is to think about writing a book (not got to that stage myself but I know that bloggers like Wil Wheaton and Mr Fab have done). Getting a book published, though, isn’t anywhere near as easy as publishing a blog.
Which is where services like Author House come in. They list describe themselves as Christian Publishers but they can help you publish all genres of book - sci-fi, romance or even a memoir if you’re in reflective mood. Their site is full of helpful advice, details of what it could cost you and what you’re likely to earn from each copy of your magnum opus that’s sold. They can even get you listed at Amazon.
If you’ve got a book in you, do yourself a favour and check them out.

It might just save your life
These things were all the rage when I was a kid. Of course, back then your choice was a little more limited; you could have a pendant and that was it. Now, there’s a wide choice of Medical Alert Jewellery - everything from bracelets to sports watches.
But what are they? Each medical ID contains information about the wearer that may become vital if he or she is involved in any sort of medical emergency, details like:
- On going medical conditions
- Food allergies
- Drug allergies
- Previous medical history
If you - or, especially, your children - have any medical history that an emergency worker might need to know, Medical Alert Jewellery is the ideal way to tell them.

Too much month left over
Do you have that all-too-common experience - there’s too much month left over at the end of the money? Happens to me every month - usually round about the 21st or so, the last of the money goes and if anything major happens I’m stuffed. Need an emergency plumber? Nope, can’t do it. TV broken? Well, it’ll just have to stay broken.
Which is where payday loans come in; with their quick and easy service, you can get a loan - anywhere between £80 and £750 (depending on your circumstances) - to see you through to the next pay cheque. All you need is a bank account (to receive the money) and a debit card (to pay it back on payday).
While they suggest that you could use their service to take your partner for a romantic weekend or to have extra spending money, I think it’s much more suited for those emergency situations as the fees, in line with all short-term loan service, a little high. Still an excellent service, nevertheless.
Playing the game
Anyone who’s read any of my posts over at my BlogSpot blog will know that I’ve developed a bit of an interest in online gambling - poker, roulette, backgammon; if you can gamble on it, then I’ve probably visited at least one site that offers it.
In actual fact, it’s probably more than one site - and that’s where the problem can come in. After all, an online casino is not like a real one, in which you can judge its credentials from the staff and the building. Online, they could be anyone. Which is why it’s always good to have a review site like onlinecasinobluebook.com to help you out.
If you’re looking for an online casino, poker room or even bingo hall then check ‘em out. Read reviews written by people that have actually used these sites. And get a heads-up of what sort of joining bonus each one offers. An excellent resource that you should bookmark if you’re in the market for some online gambling fun.

Hosting sites
Part of “Going Self-hosted with Wordpress : A Wolfie Guide”
One of the subjects that is a bit of a minefield when it comes to going self-hosted is which hosting provider to choose. There are, literally, thousands of them out there, and there is often little to choose between them. Ok, you can take recommendations from friends and fellow bloggers (like the ones I’ve given in previous articles) but that only gives you a very small part of the market.
In an effort to overcome this difficulty, a number of sites have been launched that offer information to help you select hosting providers. So far, one of the best that I’ve come across is top10webhosting.com. They have a long list of providers, to help you choose the best web host for you. What top10webhosting.com gives you is a way to compare prices and specifications, filter providers by whether they offer certain things (cPanel, for instance), read reviews and check out in detail what each provider has to offer.
One provider they recommend (that I’d not heard of before) is HostMonster - which has been at the top of the recommendation list for 10 months on the trot. And it’s no wonder - $5.95 per month, 1500GB disk space, 15000GB bandwith, host unlimited domains. It’s an amazing deal and well worth taking a look at.
