Playing the game

Anyone who’s read any of my posts over at my BlogSpot blog will know that I’ve developed a bit of an interest in online gambling - poker, roulette, backgammon; if you can gamble on it, then I’ve probably visited at least one site that offers it.

In actual fact, it’s probably more than one site - and that’s where the problem can come in. After all, an online casino is not like a real one, in which you can judge its credentials from the staff and the building. Online, they could be anyone. Which is why it’s always good to have a review site like onlinecasinobluebook.com to help you out.

If you’re looking for an online casino, poker room or even bingo hall then check ‘em out. Read reviews written by people that have actually used these sites. And get a heads-up of what sort of joining bonus each one offers. An excellent resource that you should bookmark if you’re in the market for some online gambling fun.

Red Rum, Red Rum

One of the great English Sporting events - the Grand National is only a couple of months away. Run over one of the most famous courses in the world, the National is the one horse race that unites the country.

When I was a kid, I can remember that it seemed like the whole nation really was watching on National Saturday, as those brave horses and riders tried to negotiate the terrors of jumps like Beechers and the Chair to claim the greatest prize in English racing. The great Red Rum, the only horse to win the event three times, became a national (see what I did there?) hero and remains, with Aldaniti, the biggest name attached to the race.

Now Red Rum lives on in a new way, with his National Tips, a fun new service from grand-national.me.uk. Let Red Rum help you to pick a winner; hey, its got to be better than the methods we used to use in my house which were usually:

  • With a pin
  • Which one’s grey?
  • That one’s got a nice face
  • That’s a nice name - I’ll have that one

Backgammon - the gentleman’s game

Backgammon is one of those games that has a certain cachet to it; it’s the game played by smoothly dressed Bond villains, (in that first scene where they get the better of him but you know that won’t last) and it has the association with the monied set - lots of diamonds and pearls on the women, lots of Rolex and Armani on the men.

So it came as a bit of a surprise to find that this is a game that can be played online - just like slots, or poker. Play backgammon at Backgammon Masters and you’re playing with the best. Their newly re-designed site (which is laying the groundwork for a fully integrated online gaming system that will include poker, roulette and blackjack) is easy to use and navigate and gives you all the help you need to get started with backgammon.

All you need to do to get started is to download a simple piece of software, and if you have any trouble there’s an FAQ section, extensive helpful articles and lots of operators standing by on the Live Chat Support should you need them. If you want to learn the game a bit before committing any of your hard earned wages, you can even use Play Money! What could be better?

You really can buy anything on the Net

From my BlogSpot blog: I knew that there were sites across the Net that would sell you pretty much anything you wanted, but I’ve never come across one that offered to sell you gold before. To me, the buying and selling of gold is something that is done by countries, or by shady characters in Ian Fleming novels. It’s not something that your average, ordinary Net user does.
