Should the Cardinals Add One More Player?

An opinion on the Cardinals 2018 season.

The Cardinals brought in Bud Norris to seemingly end their offseason, but, is the team ready? If not, what players could help?

With the slow offseason, the Cardinals made their moves they wanted, and kept pretty quiet throughout, except the Marcell Ozuna trade. However, with some big free agents left, the Cardinals said their not opposed to making another move. The Cardinals, who are said to be somewhat interested in a third or first basemen, have many options.

Mike Moustakas, former Royals third baseman, is still on the open market, after arguably his best season ever. Moustakas was elected to his second all star game, hit 38 home runs, good for 5th in the league. He also batted .272 with 85 RBIs. A move to sign Moustakas would move Jedd Gyorko to a reserve role, one he did pretty well in 2016, when he hit 30 home runs. Moustakas could definitely fill a void at first, and put another lefty in the righty heavy lineup.

On the other hand, the Cardinals could sign a first basemen and move Matt Carpenter to third. A good option could be Logan Morrison. Morrison also had a breakout season in 2017. Like Moustakas, Morrison hit 38 home runs, also had 85, though he batted a lower .246. Morrison wasn’t an all star, but was up for the final vote for the game, but didn’t get it,

While there are many more options, or just going with what they have now, the Cardinals could go any of these ways. However, with the general manager saying he isn’t opposed to making a deal, it could be something to watch.
