The CBS hit TV show “The Big Bang Theory” has been cancelled, with CBS announcing that its next season will be its last. The show has been on for 11 years, and the final, and 12th season will be coming out late in 2018.

The last season ended with a big moment, as Sheldon, played by Jim Parsons, proposed to Amy Farrett Fowler, played by Mayim Bialik. Also, over the past couple of seasons, Howard, played by Simon Helberg, had a child with his wife, Bernadette played by Melissa Rauch.

“It was a good show, and I’m sad that it’s going off,” senior Edwin Robinson said.

According to some, though, the show has run its course, and is running out of ideas, and no longer having the originality that once made it so popular.

“I think that the show has gone on long enough. It’s getting kind of bland after this long,” sophomore Courtney Ledbetter said.

There is some speculation that “Young Sheldon,” a show depicting the high school career of one of the main character in “Big Bang Theory” will also be going off the air. According to CBS, though, it will not be going off the air after the first season. The first episode of season two came out on September 24.

“(Young Sheldon’s) a great show, and I’m super excited for season two. It’s just so funny to watch, and see how the characters that are in the (Big Bang Theory) develop,” junior Jaden Albano said.

CBS, Warner Bros Television and Chuck Lorre Productions released a joint statement addressing the cancellation of “Big Bang Theory,” saying that they intend to bring the Big Bang to a big close.

“We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close,” the statement said.
