The World Series is here and is set to begin this week, and the matchup will be between the Dodgers and the Red Sox.

As for the AL Pennant winner, the Red Sox were the dominant team in the AL this year, winning 108 games and rolling through their competitors this season. Their offense was lacking a power hitter last season, and after an early round playoff exit, they made their move. Signing slugger JD Martinez in the offseason to transition into a DH role, Martinez knocked out 43 home runs and batted .330. Around him, MVP candidate Mookie Betts and standout shortstop Xander Bogaerts lead the team. However, Boston’s pitching staff is very strong. Pitchers like David Price, Chris Sale, and Nathan Eovaldi pitch out of the rotation, though neither Sale or Price have had very good postseason statistics. The Red Sox also bring a very good bullpen, though it is not as deep as others. Craig Kimbrel, Ryan Braiser and Joe Kelly headline those that would appear out of the Sox pen.

“The Astros have a good shot at winning the world series, they have such a good team and have the advantage with winning last year,” junior Adam Polly said.

Now to the NL pennant winner, the Dodgers, who lost the World Series last year to the Houston Astros are back again to avenge their loss last year with a win. The team, which is eerily similar to last years, has hit for power, average, and pitched very well this season. With Matt Kemp and Manny Machado coming over from trades to the Dodgers in 2018, Los Angeles has put itself back on top of the National League. With Clayton Kershaw and youngster Walker Buehler headlining the rotation, and Kenta Maeda, Pedro Baez and Kenley Jansen closing out the bullpen, the Dodgers pitching could be considered their strong suit. However, with Max Muncy, Machado, Kemp, Chris Taylor, Justin Turner, Cody Bellinger, and Yasiel Puig, their offense is no push over.

“I think the Brewers will win the world series. Christian Yelich is very good, and will lead them,” junior Ethan Seymore said.

This will be the 114th annual Fall Classic. Game 1 is slated to start October 23, and will last to, at the most, Halloween.
