One of the newest series on Netflix is “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” This show is a spinoff of the original show “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.”

“This new interpretation of Sabrina brought a dark twist on the family fun show,” sophomore Audrey Keevan said,

The show takes place in the same universe as the CW show “Riverdale”, and throughout the show many of the character reference Riverdale High. The producers from Riverdale originally held the rights to the show, but Netflix bought them to make the show “darker,” according to Enews.com.

“I love this version; it brought out the whole concept to being a witch and the responsibility to keep the secrets hidden,” hall monitor Amy Bowsher said.

Sabrina Spellman, played by Kiernan Shipka, is going through life hiding her secret, she is a witch, from her mortal friends. Then on her 16 birthday Sabrina is to sign the “book of the beast,” known as Satan’s book. Now, she is going through life fighting the Dark Lord’s rules and his expectations.

“I loved Ross Lynch. He was just all around a good guy that you felt sympathy for. Sabrina annoyed me though. She looked really old in some scenes, and Harvey was way out of her league,” Keevan said

The show has lots of satanic references, as Sabrina is in of the Church of Night, a church that meets at night and worships Satan. Sabrina is fighting with her aunts and cult to make the cult more mortal friendly. The major witchcraft in the show  may make some uncomfortable, as the cast uses spells to get through their life, according to rottentomatoes.com.

“I find it very interesting. Many shows are too scared to get into things like worshiping satan, but this show did, and I feel they did it very well,” Keeven said.

“The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch” season one is currently on Netflix.  Season two is scheduled to air in December 2019.
