Homecoming Week Is In Full Swing

Homecoming week is an important time period at Timberland for many students. It is a week full of school spirit, leading up to the football game and the big dance. Both girls and boys are preparing in full force for the festivities.

Some of the preparations revolve around the dance.

“This past week, I have been tanning regularly. I have a nail and eyebrow appointment this week, and I have been getting some last minute things together like jewelry. I also need to find a hairstyle to show to my hairdresser for my hair appointment Saturday,” senior Leah Saraceno said.

This is just an example of some of the lengths students go to get ready for the big day. Males also have to gather a few things to impress their dates.

“I still have yet to get a bowtie that matches my dates dress. I also am getting my hair cut sometime this week,” senior Ian Wilson said.

To relieve some of the stress of last minute planning, Timberland offers fun and creative spirit days that students can participate in the week before the dance.

“I like to participate in spirit days… it can be fun,” senior Kylie Morrow said.

Football players are getting ready for the homecoming football game scheduled for October 6. The game, against Francis Howell North, is at 7p.m.

“We’re definitely going to win,” Wilson said.

It is not just the players who are excited about the big game.

“I’m going to the football game on Friday to watch my date play,” Saraceno said.

Any students looking for a fun filled week or weekend, can participate in Timberlands spirit week, join the students in the student section on Friday night, or head over to the homecoming dance Saturday night. Powder puff will also take place this week, Wednesday at 6 p.m.
