This year’s football season is already halfway through the 10 game season. The 2023 varsity team has 55 players from grades 10 to 12 and they love to show their support for each other.
“[My job is to] get them hyped, and if they mess up, make sure to tell them don’t do it again,” junior Teryun Reeves said.
The team’s motto for this year is “carry the torch,” and was voted on by the seniors.
“They just want to keep building and keep this program moving in the right direction for years to come,” head football coach Ed Gilreath said.
There are currently more than ten coaches, many who are volunteers.
“The kids are out there working hard everyday at practice. We’re just looking for improvement each and every week, and we’re seeing that right now, so we’re just excited to see where we are at the end,” Gilreath said.
Football practice is usually Monday to Thursday, 2:45 p.m.to 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
“I support [my team], whether or not I’m on the field, I support them,” Junior Stony Billings said.
Varsity games are always Friday nights. Timberland’s next game, against Francis Howell, will be Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. To date, the Varsity Wolves have a 1-5 record.
