Xello is a program that gives students the opportunity to explore career options, search for colleges and engage with career opportunities according to college and career counselor Amy Green. It incorporates features that allow students to complete college applications and receive letters of recommendation according to Green.
“I think it will help a lot of people to find their future colleges or the jobs that they want to be,” junior Reese Rovin said.
According to Green, Xello offers matchmaking tests that provide students with their personality styles and potential career paths.
“The tests that you take really narrow down all the opportunities that you have and better give you an idea of where you could go after high school,” Rovin said.
According to Green, Xello was implemented this year due to the new career pathways initiative requiring students to have an Individualized Career and Academic Plan.
“It’s just a great tool for students to be able to kind of gauge where they want to go with their future. Helps them to decide classes, helps them to pick out what pathway they want to go to,” assistant principal Emily Hoehn said.
With Xello’s ability to search colleges and its matchmaking tests, it can be used by students of all grades in high school according to Green.
“It’s a one-stop shop that kids are gonna be able to use their entire four years,” Hoehn said.
Xello provides students with career information and the ability to request and receive high school transcripts for college, according to Green.
“Xello is being implemented as an initiative to really help the students along in their college and career planning,” Green said.
Timberland has the highest engagement in the Xello program in all four of the district’s high schools according to Green.
“Congrats to Timberland students for using Xello and I hope they continue and I am here if they need help,” Green said.
