According to Timberland’s nutrition calendar on November 15 the cafeteria served a thanksgiving meal. So, WHTV decided to hear from students and staff on what they prefer to eat on thanksgiving.
Culinary teacher Cherie Boren said she prefers oyster casserole on thanksgiving.
“It’s something you’re not having everyday; you look forward to having it at that time,” Boren said.
According to Boren, one thanksgiving meal can have up to 700 calories.
“Everything on the table, literally everything tastes so good,” junior Gregory Jackson said.
Senior Neeley Dutt also said she likes everything, because her mom knows how to cook and everything is good.
“My mom knows how to cook, so it hits the right spot.” said sophomore Inziyah Cameron.
According to Boren, Culinary 3, the week of thanksgiving, makes a thanksgiving meal. Each group will make a different part.
“My favorite Thanksgiving food is sweet potatoes, because I feel like everything, other than mac and cheese, [it is] is overrated,” senior Sydney Woods said.
Junior Brenna McDaniel said she likes yams with roasted marshmallows on top, because it is gluten free.
Out of a survey conducted at Timberland about fall food, about 37% responded that they prefer foods involving pumpkin. Only about 7% responded with turkey when asked about their favorite fall food.
“[I prefer] pumpkin pie, because it’s sweet, and I like deserts,” sophomore Brooklyn Caston said.
Freshman Owen Wheeler said he believes turkey and gravy is the best combo.
Boren also said it can take some families a few days to prepare their thanksgiving meal. Thanks giving break (off school) is November 22nd thru November 26.
