Jessica Utzette is the owner of Salon De Fluff and is a nationally certified groomer. Salon De Fluff was started four years ago, and Utzette has been grooming for over 20 years.
According to Shelby Lord, “Honestly my favorite part is making the dogs feel good. One of my favorite parts is when they get excited to come in. Making them feel good and safe, helping them out however they need it. That’s the whole reason I’m in the business,.” groomer Shelby Lord said.
Utzette said she has a passion for animals and loves being creative, and pet grooming is a way to do both at the same time. Salon De Fluff prides itself on doing things at alow stress level, so they work with the client and pet to get them used to it. Sometimes they will come in for visits to get them used to little things and tools to help minimize stress, according to employees.
“I really like animals, especially dogs, they are very fun. We don’t like to push the animals, we don’t want them to be uncomfortable with grooming, “ groomer Erin Yates said
The Salon also has a newly opened Cat Cafe to pet and play with adoptable kitties from Saint Charles Pet Adoption Center. Visitors to the cat cafe will pay a small fee to enter, that supports the pet adoption center, but they have board games and treats for the cats and humans to bond over.
“Making sure that every animal feels most comfortable, and happy here so there is no anxiety. It is easier for the owners and groomers when they want to be here rather than forced to,” groomer Wayne Miller said.
