With Seniors last day, May 24, right around the corner, Timberland is saying goodbye to 419 enrolled seniors. Here is what a few of them are planning after graduation.
“I plan on going to Truman State University to major in history and then pursue a career in law,” senior Danny Wilson said.
According to a student survey, 53.8% of students plan to attend a four-year university, 34.6% plan on going to a two-year college, 3.8% are taking a gap year and 7.7% are choosing an alternate direction.
“My plans for next year are to probably go to cosmetology school. I think I want to learn to be a hairstylist. If I don’t do hair, then I might go into the esthetician business and do skin care,” senior Alayna Keeteman said.
According to the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development website, Missouri has a total of 229 higher-education institutions for seniors to pick from. A student survey showed that only 8% of seniors chose schools from a different state.
“I will be going to Iowa State University, and I am going to be a P.E. teacher,” senior Megan Witzman said.
Graduation practice will take place on May 30 at Timberland, and graduation will be on June 2 at the Family Arena. Graduation will be a 90-minute long ceremony. Doors open at the arena at 11:30 a.m., and the ceremony will start at 12:30 p.m.
