Halloween is almost here, and for many, there are different ways to get into the Halloween spirit. One popular method is watching scary movies.
“I like the movies that make you think. The first two that come to mind are ‘Shudder Island’ and ‘Inception’,” assistant principal Dr. Kailtyln Kleinschmidt said.
Many students and staff members have a favorite horror movie to watch around Halloween.
“My favorite scary movie is… ‘Weapons’ because it really just gets you going, and you never know what’s next,” junior Kaylin Behlmann said.
The first known movie of the horror genre is “Manoir du Diable,” directed by Georges Méliès and first released in 1896.
“My favorite scary movie of all time is kind of a goofy one. It’s an older movie called ‘Poltergiest.’ It wasn’t about the movie scaring mIt was the little lady that actually had the creepy voice that scared me in that movie,” instructional assistant Bob Holman said.
The movie that first made the term “slasher” big was “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”
“My favorite scary movie is probably ‘Heart Eyes’ because… it has a lot of jumpscares,” freshman Maddy Chapman said.
Film and lit teacher Corrine Drozkowski said she really enjoyed “Silence of the Lambs.” She considers it one of her favorites because there are serial killers involved which she said is scarier than blood and guts because they are real.
“I personally really love ‘It.’ I’ve loved it since I was little,” junior Jade Theisman said.
There will be some scary movies coming out to theaters this fall including “Bone Lake,” “Good Boy” and “Black Phone 2” according to Rotten Tomatoes.
