In Manhattan, New York, on the grueling day of October 30, a man by the name of Sayfullo Saipov ran a truck onto a bike path near the World Trade Center. The impact of the truck killed eight people and injure at least a dozen more.

“It was close to where a lot of people lived. I have not heard a lot because a lot of people are used to these terrorist attacks happening now which is not a good thing,” senior Carson Smith said.

Saipov, 29,  was born in Uzbekistan but became a United States citizen in 2010. He was living in New Jersey. Some believe he may have been a member of ISIS, as a note related to this group was found next to Saipov’s truck, according to cnn.com.

“It’s messed up and they [ISIS] need to stop doing this stuff. He killed innocent civilians all because they [ISIS] believe in doing that kind of stuff,” senior David’vion Bell said.

Saipov rented a truck that was used in the attack. Sources from CNN claim he was heard shouting, “Allahu Akbar” out of the truck moments before the attack and his car was found with a pellet gun and paintball gun.

“Its very sad, and it honestly happens all over the world and lately ISIS has been doing things like this just to get their name well known,” senior Samantha Waiter said.

Saipov’s truck crashed into a school bus near by and officers shot Saipov in the abdomen. He was transported to a hospital and was kept in stable condition for questioning, according to cnn.com.
