The NFL off-season has not yet officially begun, but that has not stopped a few teams from making deals.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Rams reportedly agreed on a deal that would send Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters to LA.  Peters has led the league in interceptions since 2015, the year he was drafted, with 19, while the next closest player has just 12 in the same time span.  He has also made the Pro Bowl two out of his first three seasons which has established him as one of the top cornerbacks in the league.

“I was very surprised when I found out that the Chiefs were going to trade peters because they made the playoffs with him and he was definitely a key to the success,” junior Cam Holst said.

Some people are asking why the Chiefs would agree to send a someone that has been such a key player on their roster away so easily.  Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has cleared that up by mentioning several times that he has questions about Peters’ character.  Peters was kicked off of the University of Washington football team in 2014 due to him getting into arguments with the coaches.  Since being drafted, Peters has been known to draw many penalties and has been kicked out of games because of his actions.  Going along with Peters to LA is a 6th round pick in the 2018 draft.

The Rams are said to be sending a 2018 4th round pick, a 2018 6th round pick and a 2019 second round pick to Kansas City in exchange for Peters and the previously mentioned 6th round pick.  Many experts around the league believe the Chiefs did not receive nearly as much as they should have for a player like Peters.  According to multiple other reports, the Chiefs had called around to every single team in the NFL and asked what they could give up for him.  Only three teams were interested in Peters which is said be in fault of his character problems.

“I don’t think the Rams gave up enough to get a player as good as Peters,” senior Matthew Loeffler said.

The trade cannot be made official until the official start of the new NFL league on March 14th, but when it does, the Rams will add to a team that was already in the playoffs.
