Cheer is defined as a sport that includes chanting, jumping and stunting to support a sports team.

The Timberland Cheer team attends every home and away football game, and home basketball games.

Varsity Cheer had their first competition on October 27, and they will compete at state on November 16th.

Coach Erica Wagner said she loves to coach Varsity cheer because the cheerleaders are always so energetic and always make her smile.

This year there are four varsity captains, Amelia Bakker, Jordan Grassmuck, Reese Harbison and Abby Kirchner.

Abby Kirchner said  she likes being the captain because she gets to help with choreography for the routines. Kirchner also said the cheer team helps to keep the student section spirited.

Timberland’s varsity and JV cheer teams had a showcase with Liberty’s varsity and JV teams on Thursday at 7 pm.

Adam Deruntz said that cheer affects the cheerleaders by helping them be involved in school and helps them to stay in shape. He also thinks that it is a fun way to meet new people and that he believes the cheer team helps to keep the school spirit up during the football games.
