Recently Timberlands W.I.S.E Club organized a coat drive to keep Wentzville families warm.  The coat drive went on for two weeks, and collected hats, gloves, scarves and coats for those in need.  

“The W.I.S.E Club wanted to create an activity where we help the community, so we thought of a coat drive,” resource teacher Kelsie Schaberg said.

The W.I.S.E Club, Women In Support of Each Other, is sponsored by Schaberg, and designed to promote kindness and confidence.

“Our goal this year is to collect 100 coats. Last year, our goal was 50 and we met that, so hopefully we will reach 100,” Schaberg said.

The coat drive went on for two weeks. 

“I actually had ten coats in the closet at home, and since we’re only going to be here for a couple more school years before moving somewhere tropical, we needed to get rid of some of those coats,” resource teacher Natalie DeYoung said.

This W.I.S.E Club did not meet their goal this year but still collected a lot of coats for the people that need them. They collected over 75 coats, gloves, hats and scarves this year.

“I think the coat drive is a really great idea, because we have so many students that have coats that they’ve outgrown or don’t like anymore,” Schaberg said.
