Link Crew

LINK Crew is a club at THS that is available for all juniors and seniors. You don’t have to have a certain GPA or other criteria to join. Link crew sponsors many events including Volleyball Night, Movie Night, sport tailgates, and more.

“It helps kids sort of take a leadership role of their own,” says Bethany Armstrong, the co-coordinator for LINK Crew. Armstrong decided to help with LINK Crew because she likes helping kids and likes to see relationships improve. She says that they didn’t have anything like that when she was in high school and thought it was an interesting way to help out.

Brennan Higgins, a senior, went to ICD through 8th grade. He then came to Timberland and didn’t know anyone. “I know what it’s like to be in that situation… and I can really relate to the freshman,” said Higgins. He joined as a junior after some of his friends told him about it. “It sounded like a lot of fun and I wanted to join him.”

LINK Crew members also go to freshman AI classes. There they play ice breakers and play games. “We really just want to help them get involved,” said Higgins. “We basically get them involved and make sure they’re caught up on school work. We also want them to know that we are there if they need advice for something.”

LINK Crew also holds an event called the Impact Project. This is a fundraiser to help raise money for a special cause. “My freshman year, they helped raise money for a kid to get a service dog,” said Higgins. They raise money by hosting a fun event. Last year, they held a teacher’s volleyball game. This year, they are thinking of doing a basketball game.

LINK Crew meets on the first Thursday of every month from 6:40 am to 7:00 am in the small gym. If you’re interested in joining, you can talk to April Smith in room 252 or Bethany Armstrong in room 254.
