Gift Giving

Carter Winston, Reporter

Why do we give gifts? Or more specifically, who started giving gifts, and when?

According to “The History of Gift Giving” by Kat Whittingham, gift giving originated during primitive civilizations, or more simply put, cavemen times. Some of the earliest males would give gifts of rocks and teeth, to symbolize the ability to support a family.

Gift giving is generally seen as a nice gesture. With the upcoming holiday season you can look forward to finding the perfect gift for your friends and loved ones. There are a variety of websites and resources that can help, such as advice from friends and family.

In “The 25 Most Popular Christmas Gifts You Can Buy Your Friends and Family in 2021,” Cassidy Olsen presents some of the hottest gifts this holiday, including a three-in-one charging station for apple users, a live bonsai tree, and a home office lapdesk for your computer. Science teacher Tyler Roe says that he wishes for “peace and quiet” this holiday season.

This Holiday season you can look for inspiration in gift giving and share them with the people you love the most.
