The theatre department is bringing their iteration of the play “Clue” to the big stage this fall..
The cast and crew prepare by constructing the set, building the props, designing the costumes and of course rehearsing for hours after school.
“It flies by so it’s 15 minutes instead of two hours,” freshman Evelyn Halls said.
Students involved with the tech crew work after school under the direction of theatre teacher Cori Maze, from 2:30 to 4:30 on most weekdays according to tech director junior Summer Williams.
“[The crew] works just as hard as the actors, and I think people don’t see that a lot. If an actor’s on stage, they’re there because of the crew. The set wouldn’t be there, the costumes wouldn’t be there, the makeup wouldn’t be there, the lighting wouldn’t be there, the props wouldn’t be there, the show wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for the crew,” Williams said.
The “Clue” tech crew has between thirty and forty students according to Maze.
“They put a lot of hard work into and a lot of hours into it, and it just makes the production even better and then they get a lot more out of it,” Maze said.
Over 1,300 people attended last year’s “Little Mermaid” according to Maze.
“I would love if we could have 900 to 1,000 people in the audience for all three performances; that would be great,” Maze said. “It’s going to be so entertaining, and I’m just so excited for it.,”
“Clue” will show Nov. 16 to 18 in the Carl Reininger Theatre. Tickets are available for $6 for students and staff, and $8 for general admission by visiting this site.
