“The Radium Girls,” a play directed by Cori Maze with over 40 crew members, 16 cast members, an assistant director, a stage manager and assistant stage manager, opened Nov. 14 and ran through Nov. 16.
“This play is very serious, and it’s very emotional, so you also get to see a serious side to theatre… I feel like the show really brings that out, and I think it’s really cool,” senior Khalil Shaw-Ensor said.
“Radium Girls” is based on a true story.
“What makes this play special is that it’s about real-life people,” sophomore Brookelynn Whipple said.
Auditions took place a week after school started and consisted of students performing multiple monologues in order to attempt to earn a role.
“You should join if you like to learn a lot of new things, if you like to be creative, if you like to think outside the box and if you like to problem solve,” Maze said.
Tech classes taught by Maze helped the crew build key sets for the play.
“I love being a part of theatre production here at Timberland. You’re basically just playing dress-up with your friends all the time, and it’s a lot of fun,” Shaw-Ensor said.
Tickets are available by scanning the QR code on the posters around the school or through the GoFan website.
