The Timberland Boys Basketball season is well underway, having started Nov. 27, coached by P.E teacher Kyle Deweese, social studies teacher Charlie Baltz and math Teacher Matt Adams.
The team consists of 15 varsity players, and 10 JV players.
“At the end of the day, I think this group would say that they would want to win a conference championship and compete for a district championship and possibly beyond,” DeWeese said.
According to DeWeese, in regards to grades, players must have one F or less to be eligible to play.
“Keeping your grades up. I would say keeping your grades up. Staying on top of everything with practice is pretty hard,” Sophomore Ryder Benefial said.
The team made the quarter-finals in 2016 and has plans to make it back this year, according to DeWeese.
“We’re going to be really good this year… Playing your role and playing it right is what’s going to be the key to winning. I think that might be the hardest thing to do this year is just a battle that we’re going to try to overcome and accomplish,” senior Austin Humphrey said.
Goals this season include making districts and playing better as a team.
“My personal season goals are to win district and just help the team win and try and do everything that I can to win,” senior Jacob Aydelott said.
As of Dec. 4, the team is 2-0 with postseason games set to start in early March.
