After school in the wrestling room, both the boys and girls teams practice for their upcoming games.
According to wrestling coach Jesse Freise, practices for the wrestlers work every muscle in their bodies.
“If you want to be good at every other sport, this is the sport for you,” Freise said.
Practices are held in the wrestling room everyday after school, typically from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
“Drills are usually a certain move we’re working on that day or aspect of that,” Freise said,
Matches are separated into tournaments and duals, with tournaments lasting six to eight hours, and duals lasting two to three hours. But for some players, the games mean more than just a number in the record book.
“For me, it is that I can show myself and show who I am and so I can put a title on my name and show other people what I can do,” senior Ethan Wynn said.
Tryouts were held during the first week of October.
“I would say it’d be the best decision you ever make. It’s going to teach you everything you need to know about life,” assistant wrestling coach Jake Hawk said.
