Women’s Rights and Movements

2017 and now 2018 have been years of speaking out for many women around the world. Social media movements and the trending #MeToo has made its mark for women to stand up and speak for what is right. Women are finding their voice and finally publicly speaking about sexual encounters and assaults from previous people. Following this hashtag, more than 17 million women have made posts talking about sexual assault and encounters, according to metoomvmt.org.

Women’s views and rights in society nowadays are becoming more important. The new year is promoting lots of social change. Women are learning to speak up for what they believe in, and what is right, despite worrying about what the media or others will twist and portray it to be.

More women are standing together to organize a group of individuals who have gone through the same thing. Building a strong platform were more and more women can feel comfortable and support one another.

January 20, St. Louis will be hosting the Women’s March downtown from 10a.m. to 1p.m. It will be full of speeches, empowering messages, and woman from all walks of life supporting one another.
