THS Health Fair
April 25, 2018
Students from the Wentzville School District “Ignite!” health care program are putting together a health fair with SSM hospital.
“This health fair is an interactive fair for all ages. We were given an objective to help SSM Health – Saint Louis Hospital and we thought the fair would be a great opportunity to reach out to community and spread awareness of all of the major health problems in our community. People will be able to walk around, learn about necessary health, and also do some activities along the way! Specifically, there’s a minute to win it game that should get everyone pumped up,” senior Emily Kurtz said.
The students have been working on this project for a duration of the last semester in hopes to bring out a large crowd of students, health care professionals and families.
“Lauren DeMott, Emily Kurtz, and I all seniors throughout the Wentzville School District who are in the Ignite! Healthcare program and this was our second semester project. This fair is SSMS first ever health fair and we thought it would be a great way to help the hospital out,” senior Madison Westhoff said.
In “Ignite!”, students have the opportunity to see what it is really like to work in the healthcare industry by getting real, hands-on experience. This is the first year with the “Ignite!” program. SSM hospital is contributing resources for the students to put on this event in an informative and exciting manner. This event is not just for those interested in healthcare, and people of all ages are invited. There will be age appropriate activities for everyone.
“We have all kinds of activities to help keep kids busy while there parents see all the vendors. From orbeez that help display what’s in the blood to children to making your own candy spine with a chiropractor,” Westhoff said.
