Recently Kanye West traveled to Uganda to hand out Yeezys, a shoe created with the outcome of a partnership between West and adidas, to citizens of the poor country.

West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, also handed out West’s signature Yeezy trainers to the poor orphans, and young adults.

While he was there, he also met with the Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni. There, they handed him a pair of autographed yeezys, both signed by Kardashian and Kanye. The pair received nicknames in Ugandan such as Kanyesige and Kemigisha. “I think Kanye could of gone about this a little bit better. Those kids do not need Yeezy’s; they need important resources,” said senior Kaylob Stewart.

However, some outlash has come out of this. Some people argue that the poor kids in Uganda need to have something other than expensive shoes. Orphans have a lack of food and water, and other important resources. People argue that Kanye could of  easily brought fresh food and clean water to the poor country, but instead, decided to show himself off with his fancy, expensive shoes.

“I’m glad Kanye has the thought to give back to people in need, and this was a very good gesture with good intentions, but I think Yeezy’s were the wrong thing to give,” said junior Kendall Francois.

Uganda was another stop in Kanye’s tour of Africa to promote and record his new album “Yandhi.”
