One might think “now that it is cold what can I do around town?” Well to answer that question, there are loads of things to do. One can go ice skating, see the Christmas lights in a park, or go to the Magic House

Ice skating at the Meadows is no longer open, but there are plenty of other outside ice skating rinks in the area. Steinberg’s in Forest Park is now open, and has been a St. Louis tradition for 20 years, according to steinbergskatingrink.com.

“I love going skating at Steinberg’s; my family has gone many times over the years. It is just so pretty to be skating out in forest park and looking at all the surroundings,” senior Morgan Talir said.

Christmas lights usually do not go up before Thanksgiving, but the lights in Fort Zumwalt park open Thursday night. The celebration has been going on since 1991 and is widely popular, according to tripsavy.com. Another celebration of lights in St. Charles County is “Never Enough Lights.”  This celebration is run by a local family in Dardenne Prairie, and include lights that dance to their own Christmas Music radio station. All donations collected at the home are given to local food pantries.

“I love watching these lights and the fact that this family puts all of them up shows how much they care about the holiday,” freshman Caiden Moore said.

The Magic House has been a family friendly environment since 1979, according to themagichouse.com. The 5,500 square foot Victorian style mansion was designed to let kids be kids. Do not let the word kids fool you, this attraction has things to do for all ages, including adults.

“The Magic House used to be my favorite place to go as a kid, I never knew they had things to do for those of us who are older. Now that I know that I am definitely going back,” senior Abby Poss said
