The newest DC comics movie, “Shazam,” is out, received positive reviews with critics and boasts high box office revenue.

“It’s a great movie and has lots of funny moments; it’s the first good DC movie in a while,” junior Blake Lyerla said.

“Shazam” earned $67.418 million after just six days of release. It later reached $100 million in United States sales, and over $300 million global.

“I won’t be going to see it until its on DVD, because I don’t trust DC to make a good movie anymore,” junior Ian Couch said.

“Shazam” focuses on 14 year old Billy Batson who has been looking for his mother his entire life, when he suddenly gains the power to shout “Shazam!” and turn into an adult superhero, called Shazam. He is still a kid at heart, but he must deal with the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, who wants to steal his powers.

“’Shazam’ is a great movie, but the humor can be a little stale at times,” freshman Colin Arthur said.

Shazam got 91 percent on rotten tomatoes, 7.6/10 on IMDb, and 71% on Metacritic. The run time for “Shazam” is 132 minutes.
